Terms of Service

Plain English Summary: Sanchay is a personal record-keeping tool — not a financial advisor, insurance broker, or medical service. Use it to organise your family's records. Don't misuse it. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. Disputes are governed by Indian law, jurisdiction in India.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sanchay ("the Service", "the Platform"), you ("User", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Sanchay Inc ("Sanchay", "we", "us", "our"), operating the platform at sanchay.app (or your deployed domain).

These Terms are to be read together with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

2. Description of Service

Sanchay is a personal family record-keeping and reminder platform. It allows users to:

  • Store and manage insurance policy details and renewal dates
  • Maintain personal medical reports and health records for family members
  • Track mutual fund (SIP) investments using live NAV data from AMFI India
  • Upload and store documents (PDFs, scans) privately in the cloud
  • Receive renewal reminders via email and/or WhatsApp (on applicable plans)

  • Sanchay is not a SEBI-registered investment advisor, insurance broker, or IRDAI-licensed entity.
  • NAV data displayed is sourced from AMFI India's public API and is provided for informational purposes only. It may be delayed or inaccurate. Do not make investment decisions based solely on data shown in Sanchay.
  • Always consult a qualified financial advisor, insurance agent, or doctor for professional advice.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account
  • You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under Indian law
  • If you are registering on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms
  • The Service is available to individuals worldwide, with specific features designed for Indian residents and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)

4. Account Registration

4.1 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@sanchay.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4.2 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep this information updated.

4.3 One Account Per User

Each person may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits is prohibited and may result in suspension of all associated accounts.

4.4 Family Sharing

On paid plans, you may invite family members to share access to your family data. Each invited member must also agree to these Terms. You are responsible for the actions of family members you invite.

5. Subscription Plans & Billing

5.1 Plan Tiers

Sanchay offers three plans: Free, Family (₹99/month or ₹949/year), and NRI Pro (₹249/month or ₹2,388/year). Plan features and limits are as described on the Features section, which may be updated from time to time.

5.2 Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance — monthly or annually depending on your selected billing cycle. Payments are processed by Razorpay (for Indian users) and Razorpay International (for NRI Pro users paying in foreign currency). We do not store your payment card details.

5.3 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' prior notice by email. Price changes take effect at your next billing cycle. If you do not agree to the new pricing, you may cancel before the change takes effect.

5.4 Taxes

All prices are inclusive of applicable GST. For NRI users paying in foreign currency, any applicable taxes in your country of residence are your responsibility.

5.5 Plan Limits Enforcement

If you exceed the limits of the Free plan (e.g. more than 2 people, 3 policies), you will be prompted to upgrade. Existing data above free limits will remain visible but adding new records will be restricted until you upgrade or remove records to stay within limits.

6. Free Trial

Paid plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial period, you will be prompted to add a payment method to continue on a paid plan. If you do not upgrade, your account will automatically revert to the Free plan and data above free limits will become read-only.

7. Refund Policy

7.1 Monthly Plans

Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable once a billing period has started. You may cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of the current billing period.

7.2 Annual Plans

Annual subscriptions may be refunded on a pro-rata basis within the first 30 days of payment. After 30 days, annual plans are non-refundable. To request a refund, email support@sanchay.app within the eligible period.

7.3 Service Interruptions

If the Service is unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours due to our fault, you are entitled to a pro-rata credit for the affected period. This does not apply to planned maintenance (communicated in advance) or circumstances beyond our control.

8. Acceptable Use

8.1 You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Indian law
  • Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringes third-party rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' data or our systems
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers on the platform
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without written consent
  • Upload malware, viruses, or any code designed to damage our systems
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Use the platform to store data on behalf of third parties as a commercial service (i.e. do not build a competing product on top of Sanchay)

8.2 Document uploads

You may only upload documents that you own or have the legal right to store. Do not upload documents containing third-party personal data without that person's consent.

9. Your Content & Data

9.1 Ownership

All data you enter into Sanchay — records, documents, notes — remains yours. We claim no ownership over your personal data or documents.

9.2 Licence to us

By uploading content to Sanchay, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence terminates when you delete the content or your account.

9.3 Data export

You may request a full export of all your data in CSV/JSON format at any time by contacting support@sanchay.app. We will deliver the export within 7 business days.

9.4 Accuracy of data

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of data you enter. Sanchay is a record-keeping tool — we do not verify, validate, or cross-check the data you enter against any external source.

10. Intellectual Property

The Sanchay platform, including its design, code, branding, logo, and all non-user-generated content, is owned by us and protected under Indian copyright and intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our written permission.

The name "Sanchay" and the 🌿 logo are our trademarks. Use of these in any manner that implies endorsement without our consent is prohibited.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
  • NAV data from AMFI will always be accurate, complete, or up-to-date
  • Renewal reminders will be delivered without fail (email delivery depends on third-party infrastructure)
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
Critical: Do not rely solely on Sanchay for insurance renewal decisions. Always verify renewal dates directly with your insurer. Missed renewals are your responsibility. Sanchay reminder emails are a convenience feature, not a guaranteed delivery system.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law, Sanchay and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption
  • Damages arising from a missed insurance renewal, lapsed policy, or financial loss — even if we were informed of the possibility of such damages
  • Damages arising from your reliance on NAV data for investment decisions

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim, or ₹500, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sanchay, its operators, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:

  • Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Content you upload that infringes third-party rights

14. Termination

14.1 By you

You may terminate your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Cancellation of a paid subscription stops future charges but does not trigger a refund for the current billing period (except as stated in Section 7).

14.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if you:

  • Violate any provision of these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • Fail to pay subscription fees after 14 days of a failed payment

In cases of termination for cause, no refund will be provided. We will give you 30 days' notice for any other termination of the Service itself.

14.3 Effect of termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your data will be retained for 30 days during which you may request an export, after which it will be permanently deleted.

15. Service Availability

We aim for 99.5% monthly uptime. Planned maintenance will be communicated at least 24 hours in advance via email and an in-app banner. We are not liable for downtime caused by third-party infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel, Razorpay, AMFI API) or events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).

16. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India, India.

16.1 Dispute resolution

Before initiating any legal action, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute amicably through good-faith negotiation. Contact us at support@sanchay.app. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue legal remedies.

16.2 Consumer disputes

Nothing in these Terms limits your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (India).

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' notice by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you may terminate your account before the effective date.
